Bmw M8

Has anyone every seen/heard about one of these. I was driving in the SW (69th st and 17th ave) and saw a strange looking BMW coupe. It looked to be a bit older like maybe a 97,98 or around there. From a distance the body seemed to kind of resemble more of a muscle car and it was like a dark gunmetal type grey. The badge said M8 but I have never even heard of this before. Did BMW ever release a older M8?

There was no M8. Probably a ricer with an 840 ;).

It was not a Z8 I know what they look like. This was a coupe and it does look very similar to that picture posted by FiveFreshFish. I think it was a older 8 series coupe with a fake badge. The M8 badge did look kind of weird and I had to pull up close to double check but it actually said M8.

The 850CSi did have the M badging on the Engine cover. maybe the owner though to make his own M8 badge?

Seen the M badge on so many regular BMWs. Always have to check the rest of the car to make sure it's a real M a lot of times. With the 8 it's easy as there was never an actual M8.

Yah , I know how much the M series look so normally i can tell if its actually a M or just a wannabe. But because of the rarity of older 8 series coupes in calgary i just had never seen one and didnt have anything to compare it to.

I saw this guy on the way home today. mid 20's brown dude driving it, gave me the 'look'.. *L* It definately looks like this car!

didnt have any emblems on the back except for the M8 on the right corner of the trunk.

I saw a older 850i on 17 ave few times, with "M3" logo ..
yes .. M3 .. not even M8 :eek:

The "M" version 8 series was called 850CSI .. close to 400HP .. but I don't think it came to NA ..

Same story .. many old 500SLs or 300SLs .. with AMG SL55 stickers on!! :eek:

C4S, that silver one says M8, not M3. I see it once a day minimum.

I saw that car (or may be a diff one) few times, and I was keep thinking it was "M8" ... untill Sunday....

Both my gf and I saw that car on Sunday afternoon .. even I was arguing with my gf, should be an "8" not "3" then we both went to see it ..and .. it was "3" :eek:
