How much?

It depends .. they are nice, good power, lots of low-end power ....

however, reliability may be an issue, (just buy extended warranty!)

a 2002 GTI Vr6 ... probaby around $20G?

It's VW's code for their narrow angle V6. They are nice cars but are plagued by electrical problems & gremlins like faulty coil packs, O2 sensors, temperature senders, power window motors, etc. You should be fine if there is still warranty available, if not get the car inspected by a mechanic that is experienced with VW's.

The VR6 is not like a traditional v-6 engine. It's a narrow angle motor, sort of closer to an inline 6. The name, VR-6 come from a combination of Vee and the German word Reihenmotor. The combination of the two can be roughly translated as "in-line Vee."

thats a horrible question as every v6 is different.

there are tons of upgradse available for the mk4 golf/gti. turbo upgrades are going to be expensive though, as they are on all non-factory turbo'd cars.

I will go for the GTI VR6 ..

I used to have a RSX-S, and my buddy had a GTi VR6 ... well.. yes .. the RSX is more reliable, way better handling, and way cheaper on Gas .. etc etc ... but it is still a Honda ... nice car, but nothing special ..

GTi is a nice car to drive, nice looking, ( still nicer compare with the plain look of my RSX-S + Aero Kit ) and it is German!

my buddy's car:

He had Civic, Del-Sol, Prelude before his VR6 .. yes, in 3 yrs, his VR6 got way more problem then all those hondas combined in 10 yrs .. however .. he loves his VR6 most!

gti vr6 is wicked car. my buddy has an mk3 drivers edition vr6 and it's real quick. like any other car just maintain it properly and you will only end up replacing wear items. if you do run into some problems though, parts can be pricey.

you need to do some reading and not rely on everyone to ask every question you have.

www.vwvortex.com is a good resource.

I've always liked the VWs and did have one before. Good daily driver. As far as modding, how much do you want to mod it? Where do you live? In my case I thought of getting a Gti but opted for an Integra because it was way easier, cheaper (for me, where I live) to make quick. That's not to say that where you live it might be the other way around since a 1.8T can be easily upgraded to give some great numbers.

Whatever you do, get online and do lots of research first.

VR is much more expensive to mod, 1.8t is good for cheap power....I think the VR drives better in terms of smoothness...

I have a 2001 GTI VR6 and I love it to death... it drives really nice, handles great, its pretty peppy... they're fully fully loaded with automatic climate control, automatic wipers... dimming rear view mirror plus all the normal fully loaded stuff like PW, PDL and all that stuff. One cool little thing that I like is the sunroof.... instead of a switch to open/close you get a dial that you can just turn depending on how much you want it opened... so you can just reach up, crank it either way you want it to open and put your arm back down and it will just open up on its own.

mmmmm heated leather :)

the list goes on and on and on...

i've had mine for 2.5 years now with 0 problems and its a wicked wicked car.
