Hard Drive Dead?

RIght now when i turn on the computer the hard drive led freezes up and nothing else happens. Is the hard drive dead?? The hard drive i got right now was bought in 2000. It's a samsung 20gb 5400rpm.

could be, put it in the freezer for a bit so it gets real cold then try again if you need to get your data off it.

it could also be a bad cable, try another ide cable and another power plugin. heck it could even be the mobo, but most likely the hard drive as they die more frequent than anything else in the pc

Do i need a ide cable that has the blue end or cna i just use another ide cable that has a black end?

fukk man this sucks i had that on my other comp man it sucks get a new hard drive or get new comp :D
