I recently purchased a new laptop, so I am selling my old one. It was originally my intention to use this for a while throughout university, but I got another. The specs might not be exactly beefy, but trust me, its more than enough to get the job done. My PC has been out of service for a good 4 months, so I have started using this, and it does all of the basic tasks just fine. I even had AOE II running for some fun older gaming. I have been running Windows XP Pro and Office XP. It runs quite fast, even with multiple programs open. Its more than enough for Word Processing, Older Gaming, Spreadsheets, Databases, PowerPoint, Internet, E-mail, watching DIVX Movies, MSN Messenger, DVD’s, MP3’s etc. I even did a bit of Photoshop editing with it without any sort of major problem.

One of the major points about this notebook is its size, and weight. It is 1 inch thick and only 4 pounds, but yet still has a larger sized screen. This is very light and small even in comparison to allot of the notebooks out there today! Its construction is very solid in comparison to the other dell laptops of that time. The lid is constructed out of magnesium. At the time this notebook was sold, it was one of the lightest, and most compact notebooks available, the equivalent of today’s Latitude X1. Another great thing that it has is a touch pad. Something that allot of IBM Thinkpads/Toshibas from the same time did not have. This is very convenient and allot nicer to use than that little dot mouse thing.

A common question with all notebooks is battery life. I have always been really anal about not using up to many battery cycles, and carry my AC adaptor with me whenever I took it anywhere (not very often). The battery has very few cycles on it. This notebook gets a pretty solid 3 hours when running with Screensaver and left alone (tested today). With average usage, Internet, Word Processing, Wi-fi etc, it gets about 1.5-2 hours. Not bad battery life at all a non Penitum M PC, and especially something that came from a few years back.

The Screen is bright and has NO burned out pixels. It looks much better than on the pictures.

Condition wise, this laptop is great condition, very clean, and no marks. It performs really well!

It plays DVD’s well, I have watched a few on here. The DVD Drive cost me $100 about a year back, $30 of that thanks to UPS Customs.

This Notebook looks much better in Person

Looking very hard, there are a few very (I stress very) minor problems with the laptop.
1. It is missing the F8 key, I am sure it would be easy to replace with an F8 key from another notebook. Also, the key still works if you press down on the button
2. The top left vent cover came off, I still have the actual vent cover which I could include. It would probably be pretty easy to re-attatch it. For some reason, this was a common problem with this model, go figure.
3. The DVD drive needs support when loading disks, it seems a little loose, probably a little screw, it still works perfectly fine, just needs a little bit of care.

Its important to emphasize that none of these problem effect the performance of the laptop what so ever. They are very very minor and do not affect the performance what so ever. I guess that I am being a little anal here, but I don’t want to misrepresent.

It comes with Windows XP, Office XP for diagnostics/demonstration purposes which should be removed by the buyer. It does come with a valid, legitimate key for Windows 2000 which came with the notebook. I am using the computer as we speak, so you are welcome to check it out, it works flawlessly, and quite fast!

$450 for this notebook with everything, more or less firm.

PM me for any more information. Thanks for looking!
