dudue its fockin race car no comparison or point can be proven from it ford has made cars with a lot more power than that anywas second the engine in that car is from a cosworth which is owned by ford.

problem is not the power, but rather the longitevity of it. A Honda D series engine could make 1500 hp, but for only a brief second. Ford is not really famous for making anything that lasts.

for example variable x

every motor comp has its downfalls especially the big ones

Their 427 lasted long enough to finish first, second, third and fifth at LeMans in 1966. They also won in 67,68 & 69. (First non-european manufactuer to do so. When the displacement rules changed they won with the 302. Unfortunately the late 60's were the last time that Ford went "all out" to compete in racing.

I would hardly call the RS200 not going "all out" to win. That car was simply insane. However, it never really got a chance to run before Group B got cancelled, so we'll never really know what its potential could have been.

The RS200 does get used quite often today on circuit racing over in the UK. Most of the one's i've keep up to date on run around the 650hp mark consistently. The RS200 that got the record for 0-60mph sprint had 750bph, then it was defeated by the Mclaren. After that, it reclaimed the title in its 1000+bph form.

Cossie engines, to say the least, are very very reliable motors (around 350-450hp) until you go with insane amounts of power (550-700hp). But then again, don't most engines run into reliability problems when they play with that much "added on" power regardless of companies?

Unlike most Group B cars, Ford developed RS200 not only for rallying, but also intended to sell it as an image sports car. No wonder it gave Ghia studio the responsibility for the styling. Ghia did not let us down, it made the RS200 probably the best-looking Group B car.

RS200 was approved by FIA in 1983, but the required 200 road cars were produced in as late as 1985 to 86. In terms of technology involved, it was quite advanced - spaceframe chassis, mid-mounted engine, Kelvar body for race car or honeycomb-structured glass-fibre body panels for the road car, 4-wheel drive, twin absorbers in each corner ...

The engine was a 1.8-litre 16V turbocharged four-cylinder, just like Delta S4 and 205 T16. In road trim it output 250 hp, good enough to achieve 6 and a half seconds for 0-60 mph. According to the comment by Autocar, the driving environment was noisy and hot, the high-boost turbocharged engine was laggy (just like other Group B cars), all controls were taut. In fact, Group B cars were never as fun to drive as other pure road cars, because they had to sacrifice something to ensure competitiveness in rallying. They were just bought for participating racing events, or simply for their rarity, in the collector's point of view.

In racing, RS200 was not very successful, despite it won its debut race in a less competitive event. Before Group B was axed in 1987, it raced for 2 seasons and was never as competitive as the dominating cars like Lancia Delta S4 and Peugeot 205 T16.

I don't think the F1 car compares to the Ford. It's like putting up a pic of a dragster saying "6000hp!" or similar. Not the same class of vehicles.

And 4wheeldrift, I thought the guy said the Focus WRC was reliable when anyone but Colin was driving, thus your footage would only support him. :poosie:
