This was sitting on my laptop for a couple months and I forgot all about it. Tried playing around with the saturation to see what I could do with it.

Ekliptix
06-17-2005, 08:04 PM
2 x AB400
1 x AB800
1 giant softbox
2 umbrellas
2 reg stands
1 HD stand + boom
5 in 1 reflector
Lightmeter
Black 9' x 30' backdrop
White 9' x 30' backdrop

OMFG, I want that lens! Where'd you get it and how much??? What Ap?

I whore the FM marketplace like 6 times a day (not looking for anything in particular) and some guy in Winnipeg was selling it a couple weeks back. He sold it to me for $200 and change including shipping. I had to get the EOS adapter separately though off eBay for like $30; none of the local stores could get one.

It's a fun little lens, but I'm finding it's gotta be stopped down to atleast f/8 for anything remotely sharp unless what you're shooting is literally right up against the lens. Stuff shot up close to the lens is very sharp though. The lens flares like a bitch!

I'll post more when I get a chance to play with the lens a bit more. The hallway was shot at 1/2s, f/11, ISO 400.

looks like a pretty nice studio setup. i think ABs are the way to go unless you got the bucks for elinchrom or profoto.

D'z Nutz, that will be such a killer landscape lens. If you ever see another for sale PLEASE tell me,

turboMiata, all I have to do now is take a picture I'm happy with using it. I want to do some automotive studio shots. I have to space available but making a BG and large enough diffuser will be tough.

I know they're frequently sold on eBay by Kiev Cameras. They go for about $250 Can plus whatever shipping is. That's well worth it, if you ask me. The only other available lens that wide is the Sigma 8mm fisheye I think, and that's like 3 times the price if you can even find one.

Only downside of getting it on eBay is it takes 2 weeks to arrive, from what I've heard since they're sent from Russia.

The infamous fish eye is the lens most skateboarders use to film their movies... ever see a skate movie 90% of the thing is shot download from a fish eye. Now adays i see alot more pictures taken with the fisheye... they give off such a nice shot

Oh man, that's so cool! I'd love to see a bat up close and personal. On another forum I frequent, someone actually trained a bat to eat whipped cream of their fingers. Apparently bats process fatty foods differently, so it's actually good for them.
