Hey guys..

I'm looking for some speakers for the upgraded home theater...
I've heard some Athena speakers :
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10030981&catid=

And they sound pretty damn good..
All 4 satellite speakers wil be used as surround in 7.1 (r/l surround, r/l rear surround), and the center as the center.

What are some of the brands that you guys have? Any recommendations? I want to go with good stuff that will go a long ways and produce crisp sound.

I have a budget of about 400 CAD...
(and despite the price on the website, I can get those athenas for 400)

Any input is greatly appreciated :)

Thanks

-Khalil

p.s
Will be run of a Harman Kardon AVR 635

Well, considering you have an $1800 receiver, you probably have some nice big tower speakers for your front L/R channels. Be careful that your towers don't overbalance or drown out the Athenas. You mav have to buy larger surrounds to compete with your front channels.

I have the Athena AS-F2 tower speakers and they are awesome, but they'd sound even better with your receiver!

Why are you going for budget speakers when you have such an awesome reciever? :dunno:

because that 1800 dollar receiver is where all the $$$ went :D

and I just need something simple (ish) for now, since the room is quite small, and the volume really wont be turned up all that high since the current neighbors arent too sound friendly.!!

Anyone have any kind of review on the athenas?

Dayum, I believe rule of thumb for speakers is gonna be twice as much as receiver.

:D

Athena towers are pretty good mid range budget speakers. Future shop is clearing all Athena stocks last few weeks at about 40% off usual price. Don't know if there are any left.

Athena center is slightly weaker but since your front should always match maker, pick one up too.
