lol 86 and 87 are the same generation for corollas so they have the same engines...but i assume ure asking about the difference between hte models...and the gts (which is the cool model) has a different engine than all hte other corollas. the gts has the 4age, a high revving, twin cam, fuel injected, performance engine. all the other models have the 4ace, a way less powerful motor, sohc, carburated!!! its easy to put a 4age into another model that has a 4ace. the approximate cost of buying and installing a 4age+ecu would be around 1000. i tihnk ure better off buying a gts to start with tho, cuz u get better suspension and nicer interior trim and u dont have to waste money on converting everything to gts spec, which is a bitch.

haha, the exclusivity of a type r, for for less than a tenth of the cost haha the "real" type r model of the corollas would be the gt-v.....digital dash and tighter steering....but everything else is identical.
