Lots of Canadian websites use .ca so don't we see .us more often for American websites?

Take BMW for example:

International - http://www.bmw.com/
Canada - http://www.bmw.ca
US - http://www.bmwusa.com

Actually, http://www.bmw.us redirects you to the bmwusa site.

:dunno:

^Thats something I'd expect an american to say, not a canadian.
I know you were being sarcastic, but I would expect an american to say that, and mean it.

This way, if people see my picture of a knife, it will scare them from attacking me with their picture of brass knuckles. Then I can avoid an online picture fight.

Just read the other thread. I'd be interested to know what the other uses for throwing blades are? Gutting a fish while juggling perhaps?

Ok so take the f***in knife talk to the knife thread people...

In order to get a US website you have to meet certin terms and specs so they let you buy one, which is sometimes more of a hassle or they don't meet them then it is worth. .ca is easy to get although there is some terms u need for those depeding on who you register through.

.com has been out forever where-as I remember .us becomign avalible a few years ago. .com is cheaper then .us depending on who you register though, all little factors indicating towards it.

**********************************

.us, .tv, .XX are all new types of web address endings to quench the market of used up domain names... saw on techtv the other day that alot of corporations are looking to register domain names, of which alot had been used up. So inorder to accomadate the new corps. needing the same web addresses; new internet communities are setting up alternate web endings for a bigger array of possible domain names.

Now .us hasnt caught on yet, just as for the first little while .ca wasnt as publicly used so, alot of companies opt. not to use it, purley from an exposure standpoint... I personalyl believe as soon as new corps come up al around the world that use common or want the same domain names... that they will be more accesible as they will be more popular.
However what allgonoshow said, the economical facter is also a pertinant issue as if something cost more to register then another.. we tend to opt. for the cheaper option.
Now that is only one explanation..
