If you remember, a few months ago I posted a thread asking for some help to pick some good pictures I've taken to enter into a very special photography contest. The orginal thread can be found here: http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76024&highlight=photo

I didn't say it in the previous thread, but the competition was the "Calgary Exhibition and Stampede International Salon of Pictoral & Journalistic Photography" which you can see each year at the Western Showcase in the Round up Centre throughout the entire 10 days of the Stampede every year. It's an invitational only competition and they invite 1000 photographers from all over the world and each photog can submit up to 12 different photographs. If each photog uses that to their maximum benefit, then that's 12,000 pictures. There's only room for about 200 photos on the wall, so you have to be judged before you can even get your pictures in the gallery and into the competition.

My deadline was in May and I got my pictures in and mailed off and held my breath. Today I got a letter telling me that THREE of my photos have been accepted to be entered into the gallery!

I'm SOOO Stoked and excited for the Stampede this year! I wanted to say a big thanks to you guys, cause quite a few of your favorites made it into the top 12 that I submitted!

PLEASE go support the gallery by checking it out while you're at the stampede this year! It's in the Roundup Center and the photos are against the back wall :)

First picture was taken on the one year anniversary of Sept 11 at our very own Olympic oval :) The two girls in the picture are sisters and had been given those flags to play with by a peace angel that was also down there for the afternoon.
