I'm trying to change my avatar but even though I'm putting the link in the "put url here" area, I keep getting this

"The file that you have tried to attach is too big. The maximum size is 10000 bytes."
I'm not trying to attach anything, so whats going on?

This is the avatar that I want

Yes, by uploading an avatar you ARE attaching something as it is hosted here on beyond.

bitmaps are gigantic. Try gif or jpeg.

is there any way you could make it so we can store our avatars off-site and have them bigger then 10000 bytes?

Thanks but I have photoshop "starter edition" I used that to crop the pic. I dont want to make it physically smaller just take up less storage. Can I do that with PS starter edition or to I need a better version?

in photoshop save it for web jpeg, then you can control the quality of it, it wont make it smaller, just lessens the quality a little bit. you could actually make it bigger than that, but it would take up less memory. take my avatar for example.

How do you save it for web jpeg, and how is that different than regular jpeg?

im not familiar with your version of photoshop, but under the file menu you should be able to, save, save as, or save for web. when you save for web you can select the file type, go jpeg, and then choose the quality from 0-100. usually you dont notice much of a reduction of quality around 65-75, so try something like that. if that doesnt work, save as a jpeg, then you can choose the quality from 1-12, so try playing around with that to get the image size small enough to get it on beyond. if you need any other help you know where to find me. :D

Nope, offsite hosting is too unreliable. Wouldn't look good with red x's everywhere.
