Well over this spring a new Vietnamese place opened in Mac Hall at the Uni. I must say that Oriental Wak (the store next door) isn't too pleased. Instead on huge lines at their store this new Viet store has taken all of their customers at lunch. The food is great and the people are awesome (load up the lunch boxes and sometimes even give u extra just cause ure a regular). Try the store out I think its awesome.

Yeah, I think the place has been open about a month. Those guys are going to make a KILLING once the regular semester starts. Not necessarily because it's great food (it's pretty average, actually), but because it's new and all the other places are so played out.

I love this place!!

I used to be a regular at Kobe beef, now I go to the vietnamese place all the time. The lady at kobe beef gave me the sad puppy look as I walked by the other day

Lol most places tend to give the sad puppy look as you walk by. For the summer classes, whenever I'm there, Orange Julius and that new PHo place have huge lineups and everything else is empty.

that new vietnamese (a.k.a. greasy western chinese food) place sucks. bring back vienna deli, at least we had a bit of a choice then. one greasy chinese food place (oriental wok) is MORE than enough. now we have two places both slangin' the same crap. plus, the so-called daily special has been the same thing since they opened - lemon grass chicken. honestly i hope that both of those places go out of business and they put in an indian place or better yet a pizza place, or at least bring vienna deeli back :guns:

The student newspaper mentioned that a Tim Hortons may open up where Primo's/Smash Hit Subs is currently located. It's all a part of Chartwells taking over the Students' Union-operated food joints, which I for one am extremely excited about.

Yeah I hope to god they make some changes because this food court sucks ass. If they did put a timmys in though, it would be like the one at Mt Royal im guessing where they dont serve meals and just offer premade foods and coffee.

I couldn't agree more. Both those are NASTY, overpriced ($6+ for old rice, meat full of veins and fat and skin, and sprouts). You're lucky to score a piece of broccoli or carrot. Not to mention the workers are all disorganized and trip over each other when trying to take orders.

yea privatizing UofC food services is a great move. it will reduce prices, increase quality, and make everyone happy. except those old grannies who made a career out of sitting on their asses working the register at first cup, and who are now complaining about their jobs being downsized.

cheers for chartwells

A few years ago they had a Timmy's in Murray Fraser Hall, where Souplink currently is. They had pretty much all the soups and sandwiches that a regular Tim's would have. The service sucked, tho.

I was talking to a prof who said Delhi Deli was mega-overpriced, which he thought was weird since the ingredients to make that stuff are so cheap (potatoes, peas, carrots, flour).

I never ate there, since there were rumors going around about the food not being too fresh. Also, back then Kobe Beef was waaaay better quality, so I usu opted for that.

That would be so weak. Like others have said, the Tims in MFH was nationalized by the SU a few years back, and now they're bringing it back? Don't socialists have to have a five-year-plan or something?

Gah. I sure as fuck don't miss all the SU bullshit.

Vienna Deli is gone? Well, there goes any chance of me ever eating at Mac Hall again... Well, outside of Taco Tuesdays. See ya, Vienna. I'll miss the fish and chips, lasagna, freshly made fries, and the Korean guy who never looked like he wanted to be there.

And, yay. The block of crappy Asian eateries is nearly compete. Now, all we need is a Thai place.
