Ok, its like this. I am planning on visiting America, California to be precise, really soon. And by real soon I mean the coming monday. I am just going there with my brother and bunch of other buddies. But here is the problem. I do not have my passport, however I do have my citizenship card and everything. Now my question is do I even need a passport to get into the States if I am a Canadian citizen or no? Since I am not too sure about this, I just want to make sure. I heard or atleast I thought that Canadian citizens just need their citizenship card and thats about it to get into America. I just wanna confirm with someone who knows this 100% sure. Like a link or something you can find for me. As in like proof if you might say, cauz I do not want to get stuck their if they dont let me through. Or even if someone can find any phone numbers where I can call and ask about this. I am googling this in the meantime as well. All the urgent help will be appreciated people. As tom. is the only day left.
Thanks a lot!

I crossed the border from TO headed to NY last summer with only a drivers licence and a SIN card, so Im pretty sure you wont have any problems. JUst bring as much ID as you can to cover your ass.

I just went to cali last year... I checked into all this before I left.

If you do not have a passport, you need both a valid Drivers Licence and either Birth Certificate or Canadian Citizenship card.

Just make sure they are both valid and neither are expired.

I went down with my girlfriend, her sister and her brother in-law, they all had passports and I had drivers licence/birth certificate and I didnt get hassled or asked any more questions than any of them.

Thanks guys, for all the information and comments! I checked into this further on government of Canada website and its the same thing. Passports are encouraged but are not required as of now! However The USA announced on April 5th this year, that they will be applying the law for even all Canadian citizens in the coming years. But as far as I am concerned, I am good to go tom.! Thanks once again people!
