Got a ticket way back when for following too close (SWONT).

Went to discovery and plead not guilty. The pros. said I would get something in the mail for a trial date.

I did, but lo and behold it said that I had to go to court to defend myself against an unsafe lane change. Same ticket number and everything.

I have no idea whats going on, but I hope it enuf to get me off.

Anybody know?!?

If you go to the Crown Prosecutor's office and request disclosure. That should tell you what the evidence is. The notice of trial that you received does not consitute part of the charge and a clerical error on it would not be a fatal error. The initial ticket and the charge on the face of it is the important document.

Well, so much for that hope.

It was actually the po who nailed me - he said I was following his marked cruiser too closely - for one kilometer, doing >60 kms.

Go figure...

Thanks for the info.

doesn't matter how low you followed him if they changed the charge to unsafe lane change

in fact, you should question his memory of this event, Why should we beleive him about the lane change, heck they have demonstrated doubt in their own evidence by changing the charges, right?
