hey guys, i was jus looking at my 2 12 inch shivas 2day and noticed one shiva was hitting much harder and more frequent than the other when im powering each of them with the same power. im thinkin i might have blown one out or something. does anybody here know what the problem could be and how it can be fixed?

pull the one that u think is dead out...see if the terminals are clean or not...if uve burnt one of the terminals, u'll see some black charring to it...u can probably resolder it....if the coil is blown....well...its dead, time to buy a new sub or downgrade to one sub....

yea sometimes even the wiring will come lose. It will still move because of the back presure of the other sub. Check connections. Then hook it up to a multi meter. Shivas are dual 8 ohm i think, so check each coil and assure that they are roughly 8 ohm a peice. Usuall they are within a ohm. If the coil is dead you will get a weird number or no number at all.
If the subs isn't locked and the resistance is good then check the channels of your amp to ensure that one side isn't fried.
If you are still at a loss post back and we can help some more.

i dont have a multi meter, is there another way to measure the impedance?

well take the subs out of the box, hook each one up to the amp and play smthn at LOW volume and see if hte sub is working...

To test if the sub is blown. A simple way is to push the cone directly in the middle... and if it has a "scratchy" feel it's blown. If both feel the same it is probably nothing more than a wiring thing. They should sound different if you are running into a problem with the spider (the glue on one of my infinities totally seperated and it sounded horrible)

First of all I would like to compliment you on those sweet subs...shivas are awsome.
probobly wiring......might have terminals screwed up on 1 of the subs.
