what kind of gear oil do you guys likie to put in your transmisions that work well in our cold weather that we get most of the year

what weight do you like to use yah 70w whatever etc etc

I've heard of people using 5w-30 in there trannys cause its better for our colder weather any truth to this?

It depends on your transmission. For years, Hondas used regular motor oil in their transmissions. Other cars require heavier oils. GM Synchromesh is god's gift to manual grinding transmissions.

hmm yah I heard of people using 5w-30 in there 240 tranys I guess its better for the cold weather we get is there any truth to this?

I use Redline MT-90 for the WRX, and Honda MT fluid for the CRX.

Ford 80W90 GL-5 Gear oil w/Ford friction modifyer in my FWD lol! :thumbsup:

From a GM dealership probably. There are three versions of that stuff. Pennzoil Synchromesh (I believe they make the GM stuff), GM, and BG Synchroshift II. I have BG Synchroshift II in my Eclipse and GM Synchromesh in my Talon.

Personally I though my Eclipse shifted better with Redline MTL but alot of people swear by the BG Synchroshift.

I know the partsource in Forest Lawn also carried the stuff...I used it in my DSM and man it was like a new transmission...

Redline MT90 for my trans, and Redline 75w90ns for my diff.

Any 240sx transmission, if you like your transmission should have Redline MT-90 in it. Its not like its overly expensive and you need to change it monthly afterall....
