I need a complete system for a couple of kids that will only need to use a word program, the internet, and occaisonal DVD programs.

I was going to buy the perfect system from Dell, but their site was down last week, and now that I try and buy it this week they no longer offer free shipping (bring the price up to over $600).

I need something for 500 or less - any recommendations? No used systems, must be new.

Yes thats the one I wanted, but by the time I add a monitor and ship it, its well over $600.

If they don't have a cheap prebuilt one to suit your needs you can build your own for around that price.

Thats perfect, thanks! No need for a burner, its for a couple kids who dont care as long as they can watch Finding Neemo on their computer :)

I don't get why it has to be new? Nothing the kids will do would notice a athlon 1800 vs a P3... And by getting the bottom of the barrel new eq, you're far more likely to have reliability problems than a 6-month/1-year machine built with midrange gear...

(No I'm not trying to sell a comp. :D )
