this is a really long story. but i really would like to get some HELP, please!!

I was paying $7k+ insurance last yr. b/c i only had the G1 license. My policy started on Aug 28, 2001, I paid $4k for the 1st 6 months (expired on Feb 28, 2002) and $3k for the next 6 months (expired aug 28, 2002), price was lowered cuz i got the G2. Prior Aug 28th, 2002 my original agent got transfer to another branch and a new agent took over my account. When i renew my policy on Aug 28, 2002, i specifically told the new agent several times that i am going to pay for the full 12 months basis policy instead of the 6 months basis. He said ok, fine, and total $4110 for 1 full yr. I trusted him, since i am inexperiance w/ insurance stuffs and let him do all the paper works and i didn't double check b4 i paid .

On friday night I was cleaning my drawer, took out the policy and had a look, and i found out it expired on Feb 28th, 2003 stated at the corner (WHICH IS A 6 MONTHS POLICY)!!! I immediately sent an email to my agent, and called him on Sat morning. On the phone he said "yeah, it should be a full yr policy, let me check w/ the headoffice on monday morning...."

Today, i recieved an email from him, he said, "Sorry for not having this info available for you on Saturday.I checked your policy and from the offset you have been on a 6 month policy. The last payment that you made was for a 6 month policy.I apologize for the confusion but I verified this with our underwriting and it is correct.".
I called him right away, and he said he hadn't heard of anything about changing from 6 months basis to 12 months basis from me.... and the price he gave me is for 6 months only.

Before i renew this policy, i was thinkin of changing insurance company which offered me $3800 for 1 full yr 12 months basis, the new agent from Allstate persuaded me to stay w/ Allstate to accumulate discount in the future, and i thought "ok, only 2 hundreds more, why not?" then i stayed w/ Allstate. The agent admits he remember this conversation w/ me. But he refuses to admit that he told me $4110 is for full yr. and he said i did not tell him anything about the change in payment from 6 months basis to 12 months basis.

It is impossible that i am paying $8k+ for 1 yr.! for a honda?? and it's a really a basic plan w/ $1 million & $1k deductable. I have no crash record, and no ticket, except the one i recieved on sat nite last week. I have checked w/ TD bank they gave me a quote of $4886 for 1 full yr policy w/ $2 million, and $300 deductable.

I know i am stupid in the first place , i didn't double check all the papers b4 i made the payment. Now, i feel totally helpless, 1st i got this ticket on sat nite, now i got this insurance matter. i know i am stupid, i should have checked b4 i pay.

i know you guys might be laughing while reading this, i know i am stupid, and i've learned my lesson. I know there is nothing i can do about it. I don't know what i am saying now, i am so lost.

If you're a young male driving an 01 S2000, it's not unheard of. I think some guys here are paying more for a car worth much less than yours.

Change insurance companies.

I guess you've already gotten screwed, since you have paid them and they have issued you a 6 month policy already. Too late to do anything now.

Allstate is very expensive, but it doesn't seem unreasonable that a new driver with an S2000 (if thats actually what you have) is paying that much! Some guys are paying even more than that for cars worth 1/2 as much.

Why not call them again, anonymously, and ask for a quote. Give them the info as it stood when you signed the policy the first time, and see what they say it would cost you for an entire year. Then you can see if it was a mistake or if you are getting ripped off. I hardly think the agent "stole your money" since you most likely sent your payment to Allstate.

:werd:

On Kanetix, I was quoted about $5500 for me with an s2000, no tix, and 5 years of experience. I don't see how the agent would have given you a year for 4000 with no driving experience.

PLPD or Comprehensive?

ING Novex will still be the cheapest if you can get in....pretty much half-60% of regular insurance price...

Stratus_Power, i am 20. studying in university here on my own. i feel helpless that's why i post this topic here.

yes, i know i am stupid, and i am not young anymore. I know i have to take responsibilty in this incident. I know this is not Allstate's fault, it is me & the agent. 1st, the agent misled when i renew my policy in summer, 2nd i did not double check b4 i pay.

well, i guess there is nothing i can do! this is such an expensive lesson. and i've learned from it~
