wireless high speed ?

OK so I'll be moving to vancouver son and I have a Linksys Wireless-G 2.4GHz adaptor for my laptop. What will I need to set up a high speed wireless internet account in my apartment? Will any isp be able to hook it up as a hot spot or will I need some specialized hardware like a router of some sort (is the card all I need?)

Get Cable or DSL. Buy Wireless Router. Setup security (especially in an apartment). Plug computer into router.

buy a wireless router, install software on your laptop and your wireless network card will notice a wireless connection and prompt you to connect to it.

oops i meant plug the router into the modem. Make sure to use WPA-PSK security with a long passphrase.

Yep, especially in an apartment building, security is important.

If you're lucky, you will have a neighbor with an unsecured wireless router, and won't have to buy any equipment ;)
