okay my pathfinder was out 4x4ing and i hit a bump and something happened. after i hit the bump the body laided down onto the tire on the front left side. so my question is what holds up the body from the tire??? cause right now the tire is rubbing against the body and wont drive at all. i will get a picture but nothing is broken as i have the wheel off now.

look to see if you have broken spring/strut

That is the strut or shock for sure, It happened on my friends ride, it looked like it was on bags. :D

You guys are wrong. Shocks don't support weight, springs do.

My guess is that your spring has somehow become unseated. Put it back on its perch ASAP or you will blow the shock.

pathfinder doesn't have a strut set up. torsion bar holds it up i belive...

whatever it is do it immediately! i had a friend with a Camry who went for Snow joy rides and hit a snowbank one day. I dont remeber what happened but in the end the car eventually broke his axle. It sucks fixing that shit too.

Yeah, I would get a jack under that corner ASAP. Doing that will take the mass off of the spring, and allow you to get a better look at the problem. It does sound like the spring has come unseated.

Oh Christ, I thought I read leaf coil....fawk well yeah there is no spring in a torsion bar setup because the torsion bar is the spring...

Now I don't know much (read: anything) about torsion bars, but it might be a good idea to check that it hasn't broken.

Just start tracing things.. if one side is still up, follow how it is laid out, where things meet up..etc.. then go around to the other side and see that it looks the same... If your slammed on one side, theres def something in there that will be really out of place/bent/broke/missing..

:)
