Removing Car Dealership sticker on car

I have a 2005 Impreza and I want to get rid of the Centaur Subaru sticker the dealer pasted on the back of my trunk.

How do I get rid of it safely?

the blow dryer heats up the glue.... making it easier to take the vinyl off.

then you use the goo gone to remove any excess glue off the paint.

use a blowdryer and peel that shit off slowly. if your lucky you can get ALL the glue shit off. If not and you have some of that sticky shit left over, use pinesol. Seriuolsy dude, hard to believe but pinesol works great. i bought a 99 accord about 3 years ago from charlesglen toyota. when i brought it home first thing i did was rip off the dealership sticker. shit left this glue shit behind and i just couldn't get it off. my neighbor came out with a bottle of pinesol and a rag and told me to try it. i was like wtf - but oh well had to try something. so i tried it. glue came right off and NO damage to the paint. just throw a nice coat of wax over top of where the sticker used to be just to be safe.

I dunno about goo-gone... I've always had decent luck just sticking and unsticking the glue with a few strips of masking tape. It's work-intensive though.

WD40 is fine for your paint. You should probably keep a rag handy though.

We use to use a heat gun / blow dryer and paint thinner or some gasoline based remover that didnt do anything to the paint. Came off easy, and we use to have to de-decal courtesy cars, which took an extremly long time. Since the car is new, you shouldnt have to worry about any color fading at all.

I think I might try the WD40 solution since I got a can kicking around the garage. So, do I:
a) just heat the sticker up with a blow dryer then spray with WD40?
b) forget about the blow dryer, apply lots of WD40 and rub like a mad man?

Well it somewhat depends on what kind of sticker it is.

If its a 1 piece sticker, then all you will need is a blow dyer, and you can easy peel it off.

If its the letter piece stickers, those can be somewhat harder.

Its seriously not that difficult, as long as you dont use a sharp object to peel it off, then your ok.

When i peeled mine off, i used a heat gun, and my fingers. It had been on my car for 8 years, and it still came off fairly easy, just had to deal with the severe color fade :rofl:, but since your car is new, you shouldnt have to wory about that. Oh, mine was the letter piece stickers, so it took longer. But in realitly, it shouldnt be more then a 10 minute job, MAX.

well, option b would be a pain in the ass, and there's no garuntee it won't hurt your paint. Using the blow dryer, the decal should peel off (it melts the glue), and then use the WD-40 to get the goo off. I would use goo gone, though. Seems to work really well, from what I hear. I'll be removing some decals next week, and that's what I'll use. It's like $9 at Canadian Tire, not too expensive.

yes it is...a trick that a lot of hi-way couriers use is to spray a light coating of WD-40 to teh front end of your car and front of your mirrors BEFORE a hi-way drive/roadtrip...when you get to your destination it makes it easier to wash the bugs and road film off of your car.

My car has the Centaur sticker on too. It's really not that offensive. Just some black lettering. Having said that though, I can totally understand how it could become annoying if you remove it after a couple of years and the paint is a different colour underneath from the rest of car.

This has got me thinking now... maybe I wanna remove mine too... Now look what you've done black_2.5RS! :eek:

Just got rid of the sticker. ryder_23 was right. Literally, just heat and finger nails. Took 15min only because the sticker ripped once or twice.

yeah, i guess it takes a little practice, but its a piece of cake, good to see it worked out good :thumbsup:

pitwipe, if you do it, and its color faded, letme know, i can help ya easily fix that :thumbsup:

How do you fix the color fade? I don't have anything serious on my mine but i'm just curious to learn what others do.

Depends on how old the car is, how severe it is etc...

Sometimes a simple power polish or form can remove it.

I wet sanded mine, and power polished it, and looks perfectly fine.
