M e s s e d up power windows

So..
My drivers side window will move about 5 cm either up or down. No more than that!

If you try and go any furthur, you hear almost a grinding kind of noise. I took off the inside panel, and took a mirror to look behind the main *shaft?* that the window goes up and down on. The cable is completely loose, and I'm assuming off the little pulley..or something?

Anyone have ideas as to what could be the problem?
Also..where I could get this fixed?

in my car the cable actually snaped because it was fraying (sp) check that as it might be your problem

If it is..how would I go abouts fixing that?

I have noo idea how to take it out..
and if i did get it out..
i would have noo idea how to put it back in

Where could I get get this done?
