CALGARY POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE
The Calgary Police Service is requesting the public's
assistance to identify the culprit responsible for the theft
of a unique mountain bike.
On Monday, June 27, 2005, the victim posted an advertisement
for his custom-built Fose mountain bike on a web site
dedicated to professional mountain biking, Pinkbike.com. The
mountain bike is hand-built and worth approximately $10,000.
Only five are believed to be in Canada.
The victim owned the bike as he was once a competitive mountain biker but was recently seriously and permanently injured and is now confined to a wheelchair.
On Thursday, June 30, at 11 a.m., the culprit met the victim
at his residence, located in the 400 block of Edward Street
N.E., and asked to take the bike for a short ride before
purchasing it. The victim agreed and the culprit then rode
off on the bike and did not return.
The culprit is described as a 15- to 17-year-old Caucasian
male, 5'11" tall with a slim build. He had shaggy brown hair
with blond highlights, braces, and was wearing khaki green
pants, white runners and a white T-shirt with black cutoff
sleeves and black lettering in the centre of the chest. The
culprit also mentioned that he lived in the Dalhousie area,
frequents Canada Olympic Park regularly and was planning to
travel to Whistler, B.C., this Wednesday.
Anyone with information on this theft or the identity of the
culprit responsible is asked to contact the Calgary Police
Service at 266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS
(8477).
