hey I will be buying a 89 prelude soon and was wondering if this is a good deal it has 212,000kms black no rust, all stock only thing wrong with it is it needs a new tranny. And I have some one selling me the tranny for 200 and the car the guy want 400 is it easy to swap tranny? and is this a good deal?

In my opinion:

$400.00 is a solid deal IF there truly is nothing else wrong with the car. I'm actually quite surprised to hear that a 1989 has no rust on it, especially a Honda. Whatever you end up doing just realize that it is a 1989 and that you without a doubt are going to have to do some work to it in the future. Km's are quite low for the age of the vehicle which is nice.

What kind of transmission are you getting for $200.00 though? That sounds quite cheap, although it could still be a quality product. Swapping a transmission is definitely not a simple procedure depending on your experience, it could take a solid week of work depending on how much time you have.

The bottom line is that $600.00 is really cheap for an entire car, but you probably want to make sure you don't end up buying the car, and then spending $5000.00 repairing everything that goes wrong afterwards.

Hope this helped a bit:thumbsup:

yah $400 is cheep if the car is in good shape (other then the tranny). cars that old the more inportant things are the body/frame.

It looks like there is a rust patch on that rear fender:dunno:

I don't know, you seem pretty pumped about it. If you can check it out, maybe even take it to a mechanic to have it inspected. If all looks good then give er'

car looks awesome for 600 bucks man, as long as it doesn't have rust on the frame I'd say get an inspection and buy it. With the surplus of JDM motors available now, you could swap to a better motor w/lower KMs for fairly cheap if it's not too hard to do in that year prelude (not a honda guy) a buddy of mine has the same gen as that though and he loves it.
