That means they didn't do any dealer prep on the car. Proper deal prep requires a road test. You should have at least 10-15 km on the car before you get it.

at 41 km, it was likely test driven.

Most road test cars usually have 50 - 200 KM's on them, but 45 is abnormally high. Most new cars regardless of what is done should have fewer than 10km's. My buddy at T&T honda would tell you the same thing.

they said it was transported from BC and the car's been from another dealer. that's why it has 41km. should i ask them to bring me another low mileage once or just pick that up?

Tell them you either want the discount they give people on cars for buying a test drive car or you want a car with next to zero km's on it. If they are giving you a test drive car they should knock 1 - 2 grand off the cost.

my first new car was 42km on it, but i know they had to drive it to get undercoating done and tinted windows etc.

my 2nd new car had 300km =\ which they had to ship from another city and was hard to find another and i was in a rush for a car so i just took it. not one problem with it so far.

It also depends on where the dealership is and the shipping yard, we have to go way out to the boonies to pick up new cars, then bring them to the dealership, or the storage building then dealership, it's very easy to get 40km on a new car.

41 doesn't seem that bad, save some trouble and just take the car.

41isnt bad considering they take them to wash them (some places) take them to fuel up and everything else

yea 41 isnt too bad at all, anything less than 100 is ok in my books in my opinion... I had 10km's on my car when I picked it up.

well, when i picked up my tsx it had like 30 km on it , they told me that it was that high because of a pre deliviery road test to make sure everything worked and that because it was built in japan and they had to drive it on and off the boat :dunno:

Are you people mental, 45km is not unreasonable, depending on how the dealer did their PDI and road test. And getting 1-2 grand off?????, they will just sell it to the next guy. Besides, anytime I have bought a new vechicle with 5km or 300km on it from new, they add the warrenty amount onto that, so the warrenty would expire at 3yrs / 60300km as an example. Quit worrying about it and drive, is 45 k gonna really affect anything, get over it.

My pilot had 41kms on it, if it only had 2kms on it I would have some questions for the dealer, and besides the next day it had 141kms, who cares:dunno:

Are you saving it to be a show car or something?

My new car had only 14 kms on it. 41 is resonable.

Yeah 41 is reasonable depending where the car has been and where its from. Mine had less then 10kms on it when i picked it up.

yeah who cares. now i understand 41km is reasonable. just looked over to my contract and it shows 22km on it, so that means the dealer just road test it with additional 19km on it i'll pick it up tomorrow.
thanks guys

My G/F's dad bought a 'new' Nissan Altima with 221km's on it. I thought that was a little high, and after some digging, it was used for test drives... Knocked about $3000 off it.
That said, under 50km is new to me. Over that, and I start to wonder....

I think under 50km is normal .. since lots of import car dealers, they hv a diff parking lot, so driving back and fore, 40km is normal.

But if your car is a factory order, then it should be under 20km.

Some domestic cars, you may get 0km, 2 or 3 kms on it .. since they came with "negative" kms on it!

Who cares? Break-in mileage is the worst experience ever really.. high performance cars can come with 150-250km easily as a lot of manufacturers test the cars pre-shipping and post-shipping (at port) and then when dealer prepped.

The best manufacturer/tuner (they are both) is Brabus.. they throw on 1000 miles as part of the package. Professional break-in is the best way.

you're the reason i don't sell cars anymore

The engines are run before they're installed. Not too much break-in to do. The only time I care, is if a car was used for test-drives, since everybody just bags on the cars during test drives....
