View Full Version : Ultimate in Luxury, through your eyes?

Was thinking about a Top Gear episode I saw a while back, and just curious what beyond members have to say about their ultimate in Luxury.

This is for cars you can buy here every day, what brand image to you signifies the best on wheels as far as "creature comforts"?

Please vote, and then post the car from the company you voted for that defines your ideal saloon.

Bently get my vote.

Rolls and Maybach isn't something that you drive. It's something you ride in.

Everything else on that list is driven by almost 1/2 the people in the city. It so common that they have no more effect on me than a Civic or Accord.

BTW, you shouldn't put MB and Maybach in the same category. Otherwise, you'll have to put Bently under Audi and Rolls Royce under BMW.

Mercedes Benz SL55 for everyday, but nothing can beat a Maybach 62 for luxury...

Rolls Royce for sure - If i had one I would drive it daily

It has true status, and true luxury ammenities (not useless gizmos)..handmade/stitched interiors, handcrafted woodtrim..mm :)

Bently a close second, since until not too long ago it was RR's slightly less prestigious sister company.

Only have 10 spots to put choices in, gotta clump a few, which is why I asked people to back up their vote with the car they like.

Also, it's peoples opinion, whether you see most of the other cars as a civic, is up to you, thats WHAT THE POLL IS FOR! haha.

*edit*

Did some l337 poll editing to add more than the 10 max :D

Just some history:

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd. was bought by Volkswagen in late summer 1998 after a strong acquisition battle with BMW. But the Rolls-Royce name was related to RR turbines, which is in a joint venture with BMW. So, starting in 2003, BMW owns rights to use the name Rolls-Royce.

Volkswagen stated from the beginning that its main interest was in the Bentley brand. In October, 1999, Volkswagen announced a major investment in the Rolls-Royce facilities at Crewe, England and new development projects.

Alot of the choices there are cars that I would be afraid to drive, cause of the cost of them. Besides, like max_boost, I'm realistic, I'd take a Caddy CTS-V, luxury and an LS2, it's all good to me.:D

I don't really care for luxo cars but a nice GT would be ok. Like an old school Jensen Interceptor. I'll vote Aston Martin as its the closest.

Also the turn sigal switch is digital, not mechanical like most every car, first car i have ever heard of it on.

I guess I define "luxury" a little bit differently than those who assume (luxury == Maybach || RollsRoyce). Yes, Maybach and Rolls Royce make sumptuous interiors, imposing exteriors, and more interior comforts and gadgets than my bedroom, but the goal of the poll was to define "my ideal saloon."

And as far as I'm concerned, if you just plan to be driven around, you might as well just let your driver choose the car.

Thus, for a luxury car that I would not hesitate to drive an everyday traffic, yet be willing to go flog around the track, my vote wholeheartedly goes to Aston Martin. Gorgeous styling, scads of power, excellent handling (compared to other luxury vehicles), and overall a more exciting, emotional car.

When I see a Rolls Royce, I think "stately and imposing."

When I see a DB9, I think "fun!" :D

As Xtrema said, Bentley for those that want to drive themselves, RR and Maybach in that order for those that want to be chauffeured around. The rest of the cars on the list aren't even in the same league.

Exactly my opinion, may not be as 'luxurious' but would be damn fun to drive.

Personally I don't think I'd ever own a bently, rolls, maybach, or a martin.. but when I think of luxery I think of some of the cars I've been in that felt very luxery-ish.

Personally I think the car I liked being in the most was an Infinity Q45T.. but I'm also digging the Audi's.. When I think Luxury I think Mercedes though. Always have.. but thats just cus I havn't had the joys of being in a car worth more then my city's population.
