Just read this article and it got me thinking.....

http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/LondonFreePress/Business/2005/07/09/1123764-sun.html

How do you pay for your purchases?

I use debit for anything under $20 and everything over goes on my cc so I get the rewards points.

Cash under 20, CC for everything else - 2 more months and should have enough pts for deep freeze.

I follow the same lines as most people, it seems...
though I've started using cash a LOT more recently, since i get tips in my job now, so I'm carrying cash a lot more.

I pay the majority of my stuff with cash, and at times use my credit card to get Aeroplan miles. I never use my debit card.

I like carrying around about 80 bucks in cash so I guess anything over 80 goes on my debit and anything under paid in cash. I don't have a CC yet but when I get one, basically all my purchases will be going on there.

No debit ever unless someone put a gun in my back. Debit is the worst card ever for security.

Credit for anything over $20, cash otherwise.

Visa for everything over $5, even if there's a cash discount.

Cash or debit for anything else or at places that don't take Visa. I don't carry much cash, at most $50.

I don't have any bank accounts or credit cards.. all cash. Only thing I have that is electronic is when I give my investor a thick wad of 100s

Any place that takes credit card will get me paying with credit card. The only time I use cash is at fast food places.

ha ha ha ha
that was what I was thinking myself.

Back to the intial topic, I don't understand why people would debit things under $2. If you go over the allowed number of debits/month then you are paying a fee ...
I CC everywhere that I can and even if it's $1 because you don't get charged fees each time you use it provided it gets paid off each month.
I hate carrying cash because it just seems to leak through my fingers...so credit card all the way.

I don't have a debit limit either from TD.....I was gonna start using CC for all purchases, just for easier tracking of stuff....I don't have any kind of rewards card, so no advantage to that, I have seperate aeroplan and airmiles cars....bur essentially I use debit for everything...

Please make sure that's not the case with the debit card, some replicate your card and steals your pin and you account will be clena out. Get a CC with reward, it's worth your while.

I use credit card for everything, even if it's $2.00..unless I have loose change with me.

I only carry cash to the clubs and if I know i'll have to park somewhere that doesn't take credit cards, or in certain "cash only" stores.

I don't even carry my debit card out with me because I think it's useless to use it (service fee's etc), and if i loose it or something happens, it's much harder to recooperate anything vs. a credit card.

Credit card is beneficial because of airmiles (yay) and that I can keep track of each purchase very carefully.

I usually carry like 60 bucks in cash, that I use whenever I go out with friends for food/drink. I hate it when I'm the only one that has debit. I usually use my debit whenever I'm buying food for myself, and use my credit card on everything else.

The gf and I use cash over 95% of the time. I don't like keeping track of where I spent my money, it makes me sad. With cash, if you spent it, that's it, you forget about it. You don't need to be reminded with statements.

However credit cards have quite a few perks.

Convenience
Buy what you want ahead of time
Points/rewards
Low interest rates for balance transfers
Insurance (Auto, trip cancellation, etc.)
Conceirge services

The best is if you make a purchase a day after your statement cutoff, with the two weeks to pay and 1 month advance, you have up to 6 weeks before you have to pay it off. :D Anyway, discipline is everything when it comes to C/C.

Collected 3000 airmiles in 2 years. Still havn't used it.

For the last 2 years, been collecting PC point instead of airmiles and got about $1000 worth of groceries.

It's either cash or credit card for me.

Usually credit card 90% of the time. I usually only use cash when I'm at a restaurant.

I haven't used debit in ages.

Since those jerks at the bank took away my free of charge youth account, it's mostly cash for small purchases, and debit for the rarer, largher purchase these days.

I used to use debit and CC all the time...

I racked up my CC like crazy while I was in school...along with my LOC...now I have no debts and MB has me just using cash but I am FINALLY able to save *breathes sigh of relief* and I use a PC and TD account for that.

For purchases with uneven dollar amounts or something I would get lots of change back from, I use debit. Everything else is cash :D I dont' like using my credit cards much unless its a bigger item like a computer, hotel, etc.

I use my credit card only when it's needed...hotel reservations, car rentals, porn memberships :D j/k. For daily use, I prefer using my debit card & whats available in my bank account. I don't like the idea of charging items then paying a big bill off each month. Carrying plastic is more sanitary than carrying loads of cash.
