I saw these IDE to SATA converters on eBay and I was wondering if they actually make a difference to hard drive performance, or is it just available for convenience?

i think they're more for convience/converting than anything else.

IDE to SATA converters?....so that you can put a SATA drive on a IDE controller?...or visa versa?....either way you won't see any performance gain....

You can only go as fast as the slowest controller on your MB or HD, you will not run at the fastest device speed. And the converter "may" slow things down as well.

In all honesty, how much time does your hard drive spend continually transferring more than 133MB/s anyway ;)

No idea. xD

It doesn't matter anymore, as I just got a SATA hard drive. Thanks for the replies!
