Im thinkin about purchasing a audi in a few months . Im leaning towards the 1.8t and the audi being 2001 +
Hopefully 2002+ due to the new body style .
I wanna know why someone would choose the v6 over the 1.8t

Torque. The 1.8T is a nice & smooth little engine but it isn't a powerhouse. We chipped my brother's A4 Quattro 1.8T and it is a bit more powerful but an A4 Quattro is a heavy car and that little Borg Warner turbo is the smallest turbo's I've ever seen. I guess the only plus for the 1.8T is that it has more mod potential but I don't think you will ever get alot of power out of that engine unless you upgrade to the larger turbo that's in the 227hp TT.

The V6 isn't a powerhouse either but is better suited for everyday normal driving than the 1.8T IMO. Either way A4's are very nice cars especially the interiors.

Nice solid quiet cars. But skip the 1.8T, it's too weak to drag anything around. In unmod form, it almost feel like a Civic with 115HP.

From what i've read on audi forums the 1.8t with a chip is stronger than the 2.8 from 2000 rpm +

Also the 1.8t chipped can out run 2.8 .

I love how with the 1.8t the engine upgrades are almost endless and with the 2.8 your pretty much stuck.

Yeah it has upgrades but don't buy it thinking you can get 3SGTE, 4G63T, or SR20 type power with a bunch of mods because it won't happen without changing the turbo out. I suggest you drive both and determine for yourself what you like best but either car will make your Celica seem fast.

If you plan on modding, the 1.8T is the way to go. The 2.8 you are pretty much limited to chip exhaust or supercharger if you go big.
I think the 1.8T compares fairly well with other turbo engines for modability.. especially with the bolt on GT2X series turbos from ATP (mates to the stock manifold!)
If you are looking at 2002's, the 2.8 is a 3.0 V6

All I have to say

If your concerned about gas mileage
3.0 V6 is a gas pig

DO not go through the EPA listings, they are off by at least 3mpgs
