Looking to spend about $500 to build a computer. This will not be a hardcore gaming computer obviously, so just want to clarify that online gaming is not my intention. Need a comp to surf online, web confrencing, word, excel, music and downloading videos/movies. I will be building this comp from scratch at memory express but wanted to see if anyone on here already have a premade one, or parts to build one. So I need either a built computer or individual newer parts that anyone may have for sale.
Additional parts (will pay seperately for) that may not appear to be evident with my requirements above would be a router, network card, 17"+ monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and DVD RW.
Products for sale: PM me
Questions: Post on the thread

thnx

Edit: Found a case, video card (cheap one, so still looking for a better one), mouse and keyboard.

So, are you selling the $932 (AMD 2400) as a built comp or for parts or are selling the one in the link for Honda_civic_25(AMD 2800)?

Dell has some nice prices for complete systems and was my first option but upgrading a Dell is very expensive. so thats y im goin thru memory express so i can continually expand. Thanks for looking out

how come upgrading dell's are expensive?
their cases look the same as any other, maybe more cramped?
if they do ship to canada and not rape u on customs, you'll find that price hard to beat i think

don't get a dell, simple as that. You get what you pay for

I have a Dell running on five years now, it's rarely given me problems. If you're not using it for hardcore gaming or anything, I don't see why a Dell wouldn't suit your needs. (And besides maybe the processor and power supply, everything is easy as pie to upgrade it seems)

dell computers are expensive to upgrade because dell uses, or used to use proprietary parts.
ive heard rumors of power supplies with different pin outs, but i think thats just paranoia and rumor.

but besides that, they are cheap, often at the cost of using low end components.
for example, i bought an Emachine a few years ago, my friend bought a dell around the same time.
both computers were similar prices, much different specs
he had some unmarked, small(20gig?), no name hard drive, i had a 40gig seagate barracuda.
his had some cheap knock off cd-rom, mine had a sony cd-rw.
there were other comparisons, but those two are the only ones i can remember right now.

dells are fine for a basic desktop computer, but you can build a much nicer, more capable computer for only a little more.

Thanks for the replies and PM. I have replied to all of the PMs. I am still in need of a wireless router and maybe a pc case.

BuMp

I am finally back in town, so the search continues. Let me clarify that i am not interested in prebuilt (re: dell, compaq, etc) machines, rather custom ones which i can upgrade on an ongoing basis.

This one is of course USD but it looks like it can be upgraded rather easily...

I have no idea if they ship to canada.

edit:looks like you already got a comp?

What are you looking for exactly? You indicated that you found some parts already, so are you looking for a complete system or just a few more parts?

so, basically im lookin for a new computer that is custom built. If you have a complete system for sale...let me know.
If you just have pieces for sale...then im gonna build one off those. Either way i need a comp that i can constantly upgrade.
