I'm curious if any of the 180 SX owners out there have done there brakes since they have had their car.

I have changed all rotors and pads on mine, but it looks like the front pads are not interchangable with the 240 pads

Anyone else run into this problem?

ussually people swap the 240sx front brake set up. but I did hear that the maxima pads fitted or something like that.

PM Type S. He had to fix his brakes before his Out of Province inspection. I'm not sure what he did.

The SR came with differnt brakes than the CA, and we couldnt find any that fit, but im unsure if thats true for CA. TypeS did a 240SX brake swap.

Just swap them with the 240 brakes, it will be better in the long run and probly not that hard to do. Or (not sure if it will fit) you can do the 300zx big brake swap

My last Silvia came with the SR S13 brakes, so I had to buy mid-90s Altima/Maxima pads. Just take a brake pad out and go down to a dealership and tell them to find a matching set.

i can get you the part #'s for the CA18DET S13's rotors and pads, they are japan specific (pain in the ass) but there really is no use. Swap out the brakes for a usdm 240 or a 300zx for the ease of it. I bought a set of calipers off a 90 240 for 18$ at the wreckers, and i put new pads/rotors on there and it worked fine. Still trying to get rid of a horrid squeak but that has nothing to do with the calipers.

What's causing the horrid squeak?

dunno, ive tried removing the anti squeal shims, ive tried using that brake quiet paste, ive tried putting brand new anti squeal hardware on em....still they squeak like CRAZY.
might have been something to do with how i broke them in:dunno:

im kind of glad i paid a little bit more when i did mine and didnt get squeaky brakes, im gonna swap over to sr calipers pretty soon, so if you want civicrider187 i'll have some 240 brakes for sale with pretty much brand new rotors/pads. But yeah you have to do some sort of swap, it's annoying

thanks for the offer, but I already went and bought another set up.

It is a pain, but I always love a new challenge and gain some knowledge in the process.

what about gastanks?....well i decied to abandon the silvia for a 180sx same motor anyway but the one i want has a dent in the gas tank could i just swap over to a 240sx gas tank? how easy is it to remove the gastank? or should i just take it off and beat the dents out of it with a rubber hammer?

gas tanks should be the same.
