Alright, im looking for a cheap car, but not something that is going to break down on me, and i will have to fix. me and my dad are arguing about this one, i think its a great deal, he doesnt.

Heres the details

91 import Dodge Colt

161k km's on a mitsubishi motor

None to EXTREMELY minimal exterior rust

Perfect Interior, exterior.

Tinted rear windows

Does not need anything, except 2 newer front tires

200 dollar sound system in (deck and 2 rear speakers)

My dad THINKS its been in an accident, because the 2 side panels have been replaced, but... yeah.

The guy wants 1150 for it.

Should i buy?

PS. If this thread is in the wrong spot, please move.

sounds like a good deal
a dodge colt is good on gas and its reliable so im with you on it
i would get it inspected as it may have been in an accident. just to be on the safe side incase the frame is rusted or bent still.

other then that its a buy

But you think if it pasted a safety inspection, it would be a good deal... great deal... or ok priced card? thanks for info.

It would be an okay priced car. To be perfectly honest, those beater cars go for about 1/3 of what you are willing to pay, but it sounds like the one you're looking at is clean.

If everything checked out (inspections and whatnot), I would.

I would dude. But if it has been in an accident then that is to much for it

Can you see yourself driving it? IMO if you think that will get you where you need to go then do it. Sounds ok but, make sure you get it inspected before you buy it.

That's a lot of jack for a 15 year old econo-box.

Low km though... can you trust that the odo hasn't been rolled back?

Might be an OK price if it's really that mechanically sound. If it needs tires I'd try to talk him down $200 or so for tires.

Make sure you get an inspection done first...

Get your dad to do the talking. He can probably negotiate a better price than you could.

But is it worth it on a throwaway car?

I know a few DSMers that have owned similar cars. Good investment, the 4g61 engine doesn't seem as difficult to upkeep as the 4g63. Potential to haul some ass also.
