a couple of days should be fine just do not hold the high pressure water in one spot for very long.

The main reason is to let the primer cure, so that the final coats really stick to it good.

Let it wait a week. It's not going to get terribly dirty anyways.

Some paints cure really fast... others don't.

i think it will. i mean i'm going to edmonton, so i'm gonna have a tone of bug guts and shit all over my car.

what about using the california car duster?? that's fine right?

i'd be careful of rockchips and what not banana... paint is extremely soft after it has been freshly painted. you might end up more with rock chips(read: large) than you started with.

So where are you getting the kit painted?
I think you should get a power polish done too, shine up the ride cause usually you can notice the difference between the body and the kit.

it's better to be safe than sorry... i speak from experience with the rockchips after painting.

paint was worse after being repainted because it chipped so freaking easily.

I just got my car done, 2 month ago, and they told me not to wash my car for about a week or so! And I didn't drive that much for about a month (TO make sure that I wouldn't get a shit load of rock chip).

And you shouldn't polish or wax it for at least a month after painting.

yeah power polishing should wait a bit.. with machinery and all it makes ur car look nice, but it can be a lil rough on the fresh paint

Working at Concours, (one whole week now!) I see a lot of fresh paint! It takes clear coat about 30 days to cure completely. I've seen cars come back 2 days later with chips in the paint after hitting the highway right away. Plus you can peel that clear right off with a pressure wash too soon.

On top of that, you don't want to leave acidic bug guts to eat into your finish, either.

That 3M clear chip guard seems to be the best answer to chips these days. If you can't wait to drive it, I'd get that put on. You know, the clear plastic (er, polymer) film they apply to your hood, lights, etc. Prolly get it on anyways. Good shtuff.

There are also proper techniques to washing your car that will save the finish. Don't hit it hard with the pressure wash!

Gavin, I can't wait to see your car, its going to look sweet.
But if I were you, I wouldn't drive it up to Edmonton right away. Rock chips and maybe even splattered bugs might affect the paint if you don't let it cure for a bit.

thats what i'm thinking now

driving it to edmonton would be a really bad idea.
a week after i got my car painted i noticed, fly guts on my bumper that wouldn't come off. it looked like it was under the paint.
