I have an intel board d850gb, and it only supports v1.5 AGP4x
does that mean i can't put a card like 9600 pro (AGP8x) on it?

if it does indeed scale down by itself, how will it compare to my old card a fx5200?

thnx

you can but it will run at 4x.

It is not so much the 2x 4x 8x crap that you need to worry about it is the voltage supplied by the slot and the voltage required by the card.

HAHA I had that board with the 5200...why would u bother upgrading the vid card? the board is so old...spend the money on a new chipset or sumthin. thats my opinion for upgrades.

Anyway, if you must upgrade the card, heres the requirements for the 9600 PRO:

Intel® Pentium® 4/III/II/Celeron™, AMD® K6/Duron™/Athlon®/Athlon XP® or compatible with AGP 4X (1.5V), 8X (0.8v) or Universal AGP 3.0 bus configuration (4X/8X).

so yes, it will support your 4X setup.
