Hi,

I am looking to buy a used truck. I would rather get an old 76 Chevy... BUT, the one I am looking at, is a:

1983 Toyota, 5 speed, longbed. The guys wants $1000.00 bucks and says it won't pass smog. In California, the seller has to pay the smog. He doesn't want to.

My question is: How are these little trucks? Are they reliable? Are they good to have? My Nissan 280Z has seen it's days and I need a new vehicle!!

So please, anyone with knowledge on this vehicle, I need advice quick.

Thanks,

RobbinJaye

22R engine is pretty reliable. Watch for the timing chain guides. They can wear out. You'll hear the chain on the timing cover.

Smogging might be an issue.

If it's not rusty it's not a bad deal.
