hey im trying to reconver some files that were lost, with a data recovery program, the program finds the files but im trying to revcover them a computer over a network, and the program doesnt want to save the files to a UNC file path name. so my questions is can is thier a way to convert the UNC name to a regular file name?

or if that doesnt work can anyone help me set up a FTP on my local network? I would really like to recover these files

thanks in advance

a data recovery program wouldnt work on a remote drive, as it needs raw access to the physical disk. youd have to install it on the system the remote drive is on.

it is installed on the remote drive, the thing is i want the files to be recovered to another computer over a network as i dont have a second hard drive or an external, and recovering the files locally is just plain dumb..

the program can save file to a FTP but even though i have cute ftp on my computer i dont know how to host a FTP or even how that would work
