Insurance question

My wife had a accident with her car and it seems that It will be written off, the car is sitting a the shop awaiting the insurance company to look at it and decide on it's fate. My question is: Can we pull off our new wheels and tires and swap them with the factory set or do they have to go with the car?

Good question, The car was smoked by a full size truck so the damage is up high on a small car, the wheels seem untouched. (small rubber mark on one wheel that will rub off) I would like to salvage my wheels and tires seeing that they are only 4 months old!

you can remove anything you wish from your car, so long as it is replaced with what it came with stock... but let them know you are doing this, and alos inform the shop before you walk in there and work on it...
