My dad is on the prowl for a new car and I cant really think of too many new cars that are out that would suit his needs.

So far hes looked at M3, M3 cab., S55AMG and S4, A6 4.2 and an M45.
Ive got a list of things he's looking for in a car but its pretty vauge lol.

It HAS to be at least 4 seats, not exceed $85,000 and most preferably auto:thumbsdow lol

Anyone else have any ideas? post em' up:thumbsup:

Thanks

I work downtown and every second car you see is an M3... Not saying that they are bad cars, just that they are everywhere now.

CLS500 starts at 91k, isant that far off from 85k, that would be my choice:drool:

Hakkola
07-24-2005, 10:13 PM
S60 R!!!!!!1 Or a CLS500, though it's probably just out of the price range. S55 is def. too expensive.

Of those I would either get an M3 Coupe or the S55AMG. Really depends on what he wants. 4dr cruiser that will blow the doors off of almost everything or a GT sports car. '06 will be the last year of production for the E46 M3 so he'll have to hury if he wants an allocation.

ok so when youre in the market for a benz go buy a hyundai k? cuz thats the comparison youre making....

M3's are becoming pretty but definately becoming fairly common...id probably be going for a 545i with M package since the M5 is probably a bit out of your range....or the CLS500 is an awesome choice if you can handle the styling, which seems to be love or hate with that car

'06 Lexus GS gets my vote

You have E55 in your list though too, where are you doing to find an E55 for $85K? Because if you can, lemme know! :D

If i was in his position I would pick M45x or GS430, but other good options would be 5-series or E-class.

/////AMG

Don't go for the S55 or any current S-Class, with the new ones just around the corner he's going to take a big hit in value.
I'd sale CLS!!! They = uber :bigpimp:

The CLS is definietly an uber sexy car  but if his dad only wants to spend up to $85K then the CLS would be out of his range...

It says 'S'55 not 'E'55, the S only starts at $72.xxx

I cant see my dad buying a volvo because my step mom HATES the styling lol

He does want something with some GOOD power, but he always wants some sporty yet practical.

He isnt adverse to buying a used car, just because of the depreciation, especially if it was an M:drool: lol

I suggested a used CLKAMG cab.
You dont see TOO many around and they have that styling that will always be trendy IMO.

thanks for the help, ill show him this list and see what he thinks.

Oh, my bad, I thought I saw 'E'. Didn't know the 'S' class started at $72K... My grandmother S600 was well over $130K a couple years ago... :dunno:

S classes start ~105k

E classes start ~72k

Hakkola

Yup, t-im has it right.

CLS55 is one of the best amg's out now though, very good handling, have one at Hyatt now, it makes me go

SLK55 is amazing as well, I got to drive one today :D Those are my two favorite benz' very high on my all time favorite list. We have a pretty nice M3 in the used car department as well. M5 would def. be a good choice if it's the last body style.

Anyway, can't wait to see what you get.

70-80k?

Which model is it?

A friend of mine had a 90/91~ Bentley Turbo R and could only sell it for ~50k

Anyways, for 85k is a awkward price point...not enough to buy a new S class or a 7 series, but more then enough to buy a fully loaded 5 Series or E class (I personally wouldn't spend 85k on a E or 5)

CLS500 is def. pretty nice, saw lots in Bal Harbour..but starting around 95k?..love it or hate it styling

Here's a car no ones thrown out yet: Jaguar XJ8. Not exactly the most "sportiest" car out there but definitely one of the more classier ones...and XJ's aren't as common compared to the others mentioned (ie M3).

He wont buy anything like a rolls royce, thats not my dad at all lol

He likes to drive his car HARD but still loves the ability to take clients out or my little brother out and enjoy a nice day.

From what ive read and passed on, he is going to look at the RL, GS430 and S60R.

I think someone with maximum budget of $85,000 likely isn't interested in a IS300..esp when the new ones are coming out in a few months :)
