You have to take the card dealing course. I saw an ad for Cash Casino in the Calgary Sun classifieds yesterday. I think it was around $200 for the course with jobs available immediatey upon successful completion.

If you deal Poker, it's smoke free. Anything else, enjoy the second hand smoke. I had a buddy that quit because he couldn't handle the second hand smoking.

From what I've heard, $10+tips. Dealing poker is where it's at, especially night shift. Better tips, less people to share it with.

Yeah Cash is having a poker course from Aug 1-26 I believe. Only $100 and for blackjack and other games it is $175. Poker is definitely where it's at but they probably won't start you off with graveyard shift.

I worked at a casino as a card dealer for about three years. It started off with a black-jack training course so for the first while all I did was black-jack, along with a few other games that don't really require you to take a course.
Later on you can (and you should) learn to deal other games since it will get boring after a while.
It was definitely a fun job, way diffrent than anything else, but as some people mentioned the second hand smoke can get annoying not to mention every once in a while you'll get drunk guys swearing and yelling at you and all that.

The Cash training course for poker in Aug is from 9 AM to 12 PM.

Hey powerslave do you mind telling me how much you made per check before and after taxes and what were your usual hours?

Well since I was at school at the time I only worked friday and saturday nights (from 7 pm to 2 am). During the summer I think i worked four days a week.
Can't remember what my pay was but it must've been around 8/hr but with tips it'd usually work out to about 12 - 15/hr.

I heard the new Elbow casino place was hiring a bit ago, not sure if they are still looking.
