Nice!! :)
It would have the same engine compartments. Same car, different engine, can't be anything far apart.

That's like asking if you can put a Teg TypeR engine into an RS body.

i think its a little more than "minor" modification... more along the lines of major modifications...... the swap itself... some people have been successful others not..... i know a guy in the states that tried this swap and didn't work out so he ended up wasting a ton of money. the only thing the 2.5RS shares with the GC8 wrx/sti is the body and parts of the frame.

Yeah thats what i thought too.
With ANY swap comes 'minor modifications' so this one wouldn't be different than any other right?
Like, its a USDM to USDM swap JDM to USDM swaps are harder.
Their similar designs in terms of Frame, Body, etc. And the drivetrain should be somewhat similar as well. I dunno, i think it would prolly be possible.

The motor "drops right in" (with replacement of the cross member).

The hard part comes from the wiring mess you have to deal with after.

And if you change the transmission, you gotta change the rear diff, axles, hubs, etc too. And the STi 6speed transmission doesn't fit in the older body either without modifying the transmission tunnel as well.

I think it takes a "pro" (someone whos done it before) about 40 hours to do the swap (most of which is wiring). I definately wouldnt call it easy. Its a lot more work than it sounds ;)
