k i'm starting a yahoo one. i'll let u know shortly.

edit: nvm, looks like it's still in the process of being setup.

"Welcome to Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Hockey, a free game that gives you the chance to run your own team of real professional hockey players.

With recent announcement of a new labor agreement, we eagerly anticipate getting the 2005-06 season underway. We will begin accepting sign-ups in August."

Well, it's August 1st, so anytime now!

With the Yahoo ones I'm pretty sure you can have a maximum of 12 teams in each league. It's a good system though as you decide which players you want to dress each night and you have to limit the amount of games per position you can use.

use sportingnews.com

It's wayyy better imo, with salary caps and stuff!

2 forward, 2 D, 1 goalie, 2 extras.

2 trades per week or something like that, I used it for 2 seasons and its great!

I'll jump in to this as well if there is still room. I've played ont he Yahoo league before and it was pretty good.

Are we going to put some dollars behind this or is it a "fun" league?

i would be in for it as well...

If this fantasy draft doesn't work through yahoo then I'm sure we could come up with one just on beyond here. We could all throw in a few bucks and split it amongst the winners at the end of the regular season. Have a draw for first picks etc.

Anybody up for anything like that?

alright.... i signed up for this yahoo league.... but theres some problems.

1 - you have to hold a draft (everyone HAS to be online = highly unlikely)

2 - the draft is on a wednesday @ 3:30 in the afternoon

3 - we can only have 20 members.

so........ imo, we should just play a smallworld/sportingnews league.

dANK
08-19-2005, 12:58 PM
1) More than 20 people = unlikely.. also the more people in the leauge the last quality of players
2) I can change draft time and i can also do a automatic draft or we can do it ourselves, but i highly suggest live draft

if you guy swanna leave its all good but i think yahoo is a very good format its a lot of fun

ya, i dont care.... the smallworld one requires trade and work everyday all season long, which can be a good or a bad thing.

so this yahoo one is, draft a team..... and you get points as they get points... and teams can make trades with each other if they like?

btw - i'm gonna take you guys to school :D

dANK
08-19-2005, 01:10 PM
yup.. the way we play is that there are teams that play each other

its my players against yours the point totals are added up for each cateogory and whoever wins the most cateogories overall is the winner of the week.. and its like a team score so after week one lets say i win 8 cateogories lose 2 and tie 1 it my record would be 8-2-1.. and yours would be 2-8-1.. see how it works.. if you have anymore questions ill definetly help you out.. ive used fantasysports.yahoo.com for the past 5 years and its been a pleasure every year.. trust me its legit

88CRX
08-19-2005, 01:12 PM
christ...... the rules are never ending.... maybe i'm alittle unsure of this yahoo one cause i've never played it before.

but it seems super complicated.

the smallworld one is goals, assists, +/-, shots, penaly mins, and then all the goalie stats.

you get a salary cap to sign a team and you can make 3 or 4 trades a week. you salary cap goes up and down like the stock market, buy low (when a player is doing bad or others are selling) and sell high (when everyone is signing that player)

so in theory everyone can have the same team, there is no draft.

88CRX
08-19-2005, 01:13 PM
im up for both

.. theres no salary cap in yahoo

yahoo players can only be used once therefore every team is 100% different.. dont worry its so easy youll pick it up without the first week or two..

This is my first time, so im a noob

What do you mean, educated? You see how well certain players do?

cman
08-23-2005, 07:39 PM
yep they have an insane amount of stats for you to consider, tell you about players injuries so you dont pick them, plus their prices go up and down depending on how many people buy them.
so if you choose a dark horse for 0.5 million, and he starts diong really good, everyone will start buying him and drive his price up.
so potentially you could sell him for 2million and make money for your cap.

yeah, i'm relying on a couple of prospects, i.e good players who had average seasons on crappy teams, but got traded to good team, couple young guns and a couple sure-bets.
my defense blows, but everything else SHOULD be pretty good. my goalie may be a bit of a gamble though...
