I have a 91 prelude SR and it eats oil mad.. like every 1000km I need to put in a quart of oil. I use castrol 5w-30. There are no drips on ground and there isnt any blue smoke or white smoke. There was a small and I mean small oil pan gasket leak but nothing major.. Any ideas on what could be causing the mass depletion in oil??

That's not insane oil consumption...in fact I think that 1L/1500km (or something like that) is within Honda specs.

Either way, it's probably worth your time to fix the leak.

Honda engines consume oil. That is completely normal in my experience.

I'm using about 1L per 1500 km's on my low milage B18.

If you spend alot of time near red-line or at high speeds it's just a fact of life. It could also be a serious engine problem but if you dont see blue out the exhuast like a cabby than dont worry.

It's a common problem for B21A1 equipped preludes like yours to consume oil. They used nikasil liners for the cylinders which ate through rings.

Best bet is to go get a JDM B20A. As the only way to fix the problem properly is to change the rings and to re-sleeve the motor.
