Rust Spots in Gas Tank...?

I just inherited a Yamaha Virago that's been sitting for about 4 yrs. There are small rust spots in the tank and i am curious as to how I can get them out, or at least clean it enough to get this baby on the road?

or does it really matter?

hmm not like i have experience or anything but i suggest going after them with some steel wool if it is on the outside. That might work.

ahh... theres a type of acid you can get that will make the metal brand new again...mono sumtin? nah, I can't remember right off hand, yrs since I used it... but the downside is, it will rust worse after it's done, unless sealed properly.. and since it's inside the tank, theres not much hope of getting in there at it, so the options are few... go to an actual motorcycle shop and see what they tell you, they may be able to do it, and at a good price, usually they will get rid of the rust then seal it so it doesn't return... good luck...
