I was exploring ideas for an engine swap this fall, i dont really wanna call yoko cause theyll gimme some high price (my friend is getting a zc installed by them for $3000 ...I was wondering how much its gonna cost me to get one, plus install?

I do want a B series so b18 would be fine too, I just want some numbers that I can expect to pay...I saw back that someone got one for 2200 but i find it hard to beleive. AutoZeal quoted me $4800 and i had to laugh :)

email me and i'll see what I can do. 2200 sounds about right, depending on the engine. plus about 800 for install. :)

I have an extra B-series engine kicking around that I would sell. No tranny or axles tho, but I could get you one.

What kind of car is it for. If it's for a 88-91 Civic/CRX I can do it for $4000 installed. That would include:

B16A1 Motor
Tranny
ECU
Axles (Brand New)
Shift Linkage (90-93 Integra have to shorten)
Hasport Motor Mounts
Wiring for Vtec

Now it might be $200 more if the car is not an Si.

JDM B18C with ECU, Axles, Tranny, Stock Motor Mounts would be around $3500, you'll need a Motor Mount kit, some linkage as well if you want to do the swap.

Ummm, no, that's getting raped. A ZC is a direct bolt-in swap for all 88-91 Civic/CRX Si's. It can be done at home, all you need is an engine hoist and a set of tools. If you have a DX, then it's a matter of re-wiring the car from DPFI to MPFI.

I'm looking at an engine swap. I got a couple prices for just the engines today from work. B16A (A1 I'm guessing) would be $1500, and a B18B (B1 I'm guessing again), is $1150. I'm looking at an engine swap for a B16A2 in my car. :) But it may just be a fantasy...

my buddy got his B16A1 installed in his CRX Si for $2800 w/ mounts and labour!

anybody know how much for LS/VTEC?

or would B16A2 borred, port and polished and cams be the way to go!

i think u lose WAY to much torque and maybe HP...

want to hear some opinions...

sorry if im taking away from the thread ;)

atleast im stayin on the topic of B series motors

You have soo many options for B Series motors.
LS/VTEC is decent, Block is $650 US still need tranny and head, plus ECU, axles, mounts etc.
I would say LS with B16A head will be around $3500 all said and done after you get all neccessary parts and install.
Boring a B16A2 pointless, just get a B18C, and if you want to bore go 2.0L then. Ported head is good if your going with a ALL MOTOR application and want as much HP possible, you can port as well if your going FI as well.
Best bang for the buck swap these days is B18C1 if you want VTEC. If not and you just want to make power buy a LS (B18B) and Turbo it, LS Block takes a beating and is awesome for FI apps. Plus full LS is around $1500 US
If you got big bucks then screw everything get a JDM B18C-R motor, not B18C5 that is USDM Type R engine code. With JDM final Drive & LSD you'll love it, toss some Jun III's and Jun Valve Springs with a Hondata and a good I/H/E setup you can hit 200+HP to the wheels ALL MOTOR.

Anyways I'll stop babbling. Hope that info helps.

I still think that the b20z non vtec is the best bang for the buck...then if you want to boost later on your more than set.

ls/ vtec is too much work and too much money trust me i know. i built 4 of these things already. if your going to go with a stock ls/vtec it's useless becuase it will be less horsepower than a b16.
you should probably think of what you want to do in the future with the car.

if you want to be really fast n/a buy a type r or gs-r motor. but you will have sell the ecu that they come with and get a pr3 or pw0 ecu and then run hondata.

that's why i really like to push the b16a1 or 2 because everything plugs into your car and it has much potential as any other motor, n/a or turbo.

well that info helps! i think im gonna go w/ the B18C cuz 170HP is lots for a G2 Teg for now. I/H/E of corse as well! Ive heard that LS/VTEC has way too many problems and not being able to rev over 7000 sux ass since cams are made for 7500-8000+ RPM anywayz! Also I plan on a turbo later on and LS/VTEC proably isnt the best setup for this! So i guess GSR or TYPE R have been the best in B series motors and will continue to be, unless we talk about the H22A!! (now thas the shit!!)

if you leave the internals on a ls/vtec stock is is kinda a waste. The 1st thing to do would be to get better rods, because stock ls ones don't handle high revs. Next would be to get some 10.5+ pistons.

If you are going turbo do it with a CRVtec. The most power you can make is about 350whp that's with stock internals and race gas.
12 second car without a hesitation!
