I drove one when they were fairly new, they sure handled well, power was decent. No idea about reliability on them tho.
They even made a few that were turbo all wheel drive

There are a few (very few) turbo AWD Asuna's. There's one in Calgary that was built up at Anwalt International. Nice car. Pretty quick from what I've heard.

Anyways, I believe that Canada was a kindof testing grounds foa GM's Asuna line. I don't think they were sold anywhere else, and they didn't sell too terribly well here either. I think most of the parts are normal off the shelf GM stuff though, so that shouldn't be too big a problem.

EDIT: I can't believe I forgot about the Lotus Connection.

Um, no. The engine in the Lotus Elan M100 and the S2 were all bought from Isuzu. 4XE1-T is a 1.6L 160hp turbo.

Lotus did the handling, not the engine.

The engine code for the sunfire is 4XF1 and is a 1.8L 140hp.

Besides, the engine in the Elise and the Exige is a Toyota, same as what is in the current generation of Celica.

Geo Storm, Isuzu Impulse and Asuna Sunfire same car right?

yes, they are all the same. Depending on the year, you could have got a 1.6L non turbo, or the 1.8L (in later years).

There was a Isuzu Impulse RS that was Turbo and AWD.

^^ya, they are.

All i know, is a little under powered, but still pretty peppy. 90-91 (or 92) have an issue with the ecu that causes bad idling and sometimes stalling. That is an important thing to know cause you could spend a hell of a lot of money fixing things that aint broke, although on select few seem to be effected. Swap in a 93 ecu and all is good, infact, their is one at pick your part right now. Turbo awd are sweet, sweet rides but near impossible to find. They actually have the same 1.8 litre turbo motor as the ones found in lotus's that run mid 13's from the factory. Handling by lotus, awd, and a strong turbo motor makes for a hell of a ride. For the price of a na, still a good car.l

That isn't a sunfire, it is a Sunrunner.
