well i test drove my 240 coupe and i'm getting it. i have alot of plans although its a 3 speed auto with over drive i wanted to turn this 240 into a sil40 so the frist step before i get a 5-speed tranny and clutch or a motor i wanna get a silvia front send conversion.

i cheked speed tech they want 1100 thats pretty steep, so i was wondering if any one knew of some places that would be cheaper i think topher91 said at the NECC meet in reddeer that jdm source had some of these conversion kits and they were asking $750.00 so if i could get that # and some other places that would be great thanks.

well jdm source wants 1000 for the front end conversion with the parts in near mint condition and 1600 for a Ca engine tranny, clutch and a newer turbo.

take my word of advice, sell the 240sx and buy a silvia. Sure it sounds cheap but in the long run it is cheaper to just pick up a ca powered silvia.

I payed way to much after I did the swap. It was almost $4000 just to get the engine swapped in with the new clutch. This was through autodream a year and a half ago. So if you look at it you still have to do the 5 speed conversion. If you look at the costs of everything it is more expensive than getting a silvia. But the advantage is it's LHD.

Jdm source does have alot of great stuff and 90% of the stuff I have came from there. If you do decide to go this route go through him.

well yeah they gave me a quote for a engine, tranny, clutch,ECU and the turbo for $1600.00 wich is a pretty good price and i know a mechanice will will do a swap for $900.00 and a good painter who will do that 2 tone paint job idea that you gave me tanner for another 900 so after 4g's are dumped into it hopefully i will have a good solid investment.

I was quoted 900 from JDMsource and another place. IF you do go that route make sure you get all the mounting hardwear so you dont have to jerry rig something whilst installing it.

yes YES 2-tone mint green!

Now that Laurier mentions it...dont do anything with the 240....keep it the way it is, fix it up a little and sell it, use some extra cash and buy a silvia. By the time you do that the 2.0L silvias will be available, so you get a little bit more potent starting point to work on.

Although in the end, if you do all that to a 240 its your own custom car, that always feels great:thumbsup:

yeah exactly and you mentioned yourself tanner and it's true i dot believe theres hardly any sil40's on the road and i could always sell this after its done and get something way nicer

whatever you think it will cost you to do work on your car, double it, because usually small things come up and if you plan to spend more, it won't be as big of a suprise to you.

Lets be realistic, no one ever changes them to bolts

Thats why i always have at least 20 of them in my car. That is to fix what breaks and zip tie drunk people to tent trailers

if you are doing the 5spd swap you need more than the clutch and tranny, look into getting a brand new throw out bearing and pilot bearing. dont forget the driveshaft, hardline(maybe rubber line) clutch master and slave cylinder.and get the flywheel machined it hooks up great!
