system problems help

my freind installed his system himself and it was working fine at first butt hen about 2 weeks after the subs started cutting out every so often and the LED light on the rockford amp was flicking on and off. He took it apart and checked all the connections and they seem to be good, any suggestions? Is it likely that the amp may dead or sumthign liek that
