semi-kinda firm on the price, as the DVDRW drive was well over that price alone .....

Running on slackware, suse linux&windowz ...both with no compatibly problems ...

All it needs is a good cold cooler ...case fan wouldnt hurt neither.

Longest runtime straight with this machine
6 weeks 19 hours,42mins. due to the low cpu temps on these Amd chips.21.6 degrees on idle (ON LINUX of course)

Not to bust your chops but that really is not a good deal.
You can built a much better system for $300; here is one from OEMdepot:

ECS 741GX-M w/AMD Sempron 2300+ CPU and 256MB DDR400 Memory
OnBoard Video Card, Sound & 10/100 NIC
52x CDRom Drive, Maxtor 40Gig. 7200 rpm Hard Drive
MidTower Case & 350 watts Power Supply
PS/2 Keyboard & Scroll Mouse
1 Year Parts & Labour Warranty
$299

Dual layer writer is about $60 on average.
