Sold my s2000 and I'm in the market for something new, here's what interests me:

-decent reliability (factory warranty prefered)
-a used car 4 yers old max, to save the off the lot depriciation
-sleek look
-relatively fast
-white

My choices inorder so far for the hunt are...

1. 2003 G35 coupe
2. 2003 350z

Not totally decided yet but pretty close, if anyone know of either in white for sale around my price range in Alberta let me know. Otherwise I'm open to suggestions, thoughts?

I would go with the G35 , I was reading a report that they keep very good resale value , and I like the look of them better than the 350z.

I would say go with the G35 coupe. I think it looks better than the 350z. And its still relatively quick! ;)

I've had a 2004 350z for a little over a year now, and besides normal maintenance work, we had to replace the rear sway bar links (under warranty) as well the "transmission-bolts-to-clutch etc assembly" were found to be loose (around 500k the noise was unbearable) which was also fixed under warranty. Other than my abuse to bend the links after various track sessions, I've been very impressed with the car.

If you have any other 350z related questions or such just send a PM!

Yeah that's what I'm leaning towards but obviously more expensive. If one comes up for sale though at the right price its mine.

Only real issue I have with it is the less tuned suspension and slower starts than the 350

A newer s2000 is not off the list, just not a big priority. If i could find a white 2003 or newer in my price range I'd be intersted for sure.

I would go for the G35 coupe, or get the S2000, if not then I'd look at something like an STi for some AWD fun.

I know the handling and top end accel wont be as good but everything else will be better

-overall accel and torque
-room
-creature comforts
-ect.

I have considered a 911 but for the 35000 you can't get anything im really interested in, you gotta go way back. An older M3 would be cool but im scared of the massive repair and maintenance costs.

thing is if you get a G35, youll have to get an auto in that price range. the autos can be picked up for a good discount but the manuals are hard to come by and you wont get one for under low 40s used.

Buy an STI, swap the trunk with a WRX if you want to loose the rally wing, you can swap a WRX hood scoop to make it more low pro, and take the pink STI stickers off if its not your style. :hitit:

That's actually a pretty good idea. But overall the impreza, wrx or sti just dont fit me.

This maybe a little biased but... go for G35... never had any problems... no complaints.... . I like the interior of the 350Z better but overall, G35 for me.... It may be a little bit difficult to get a g35C under 30,000KMs for 35K... When I was on the market, there was a black one for $33K (with 64,000kms).. that was the cheapest I've heard... most of them are around 38-40K for 2003. I know someone who got one from ontario for $37K...

When I was looking for G35 two months ago, I even tried BC. There was one for $36K, 2004 with only 14K private sale. Too good to be true.... I was willing to get it from there but I was only second in line... the first guy who had the deposit didn't let it go...

My S4 is only going to endure mild modifications. A chip. Exhaust. Intake system of some sort, perhaps upgraded intercoolers and piping, that's about it.

Extremely fun I've driven one before, but I had the s2k and I think that's pretty similar so I'm looking for something alittle different. Good odea though.

You're kidding me right? Similar? The styling. The looks. The handling. The supercharged 1.6L.

Nothing like you're old S2000. And this isn't IMO, this is basically fact.

Finally got a chance to drive both the g35C and the 350z. I am totally undecided so ill just go wit h either, no i have to get my hands on one. Im looking for an '03, the tour (not track pack) in the z and any model with the 18 inch wheels on the G. Last fall/winter dealerships had '03 350s for 35,000, so im assuming i wont have to spend that much. Any idea how much i should be looking to spend? Oh yeah and wher the hell can i find one? Canada trader has been pretty weak as of late for these cars. either over priced or just the wrong color.

Check everything. Canadatrader, Bargainfinder, even Nissan dealers, may be able to find a leaseback. Keep your eyes peeled anywhere I guess. If I see one, I'll find this topic, because I can't afford one myself.

Thanks man I'm after a white one, then maybe black. The only other color I'd take is blue but it would have to be a real good deal. That would be awesome if you could let me know if you hear of one.

Now that I think about it, I don't think i've seen a white G35C or 350Z driving around Calgary yet. By far the most popular colors I've seen are the silver and black for the G35 and blue and silver for the 350. Personally I would go with the G35, but I am biased like some of the other owners as well. But for 35000K I think you have a better chance of finding a 350Z Touring in that range or bargaining into that range. I'm also assuming since you had a S2000 you may prefer the manual, and in that case especially I would move to the 350Z. The 6MT G35's aren't necessarily hard to find (just look at autotrader.ca) the 2003's just don't fall below 40K like the auto's.

Looking at autotrader though there seem to be a few blue 350's in your range and with bargaining could potentially be had at a good price. I even saw a black one for 36K but you could definitely bargain that down. Good luck!

pinoyhero
08-24-2005, 04:49 PM
Yeah thanks for the heads up on the black one. I like it but she wanted 36,000 firm, then 34,500 firm. My guess is that once the winter comes she'll be asking where my 32,000 bid is.

pinoyhero
08-28-2005, 08:41 PM
Yeah I like the new TL, closer to 40k, but thats not totally out of my range. That's definielty on my B list. I had an '02 typeS and liked the car. It just felt too big maybe ill drive a newer TL which looks smaller and see how i like it.

if i had the type of money u have at the moment, i would take and RSX-S over the 350Z or the G35... theres no fun like VTEC. u'll be impressed with the performance and u'll still have money left over to put some rims and some aftermarket parts on it, but thats just my opinion.
