It's a tow hook, to get towed with. Most cars are too low and have too low of bumper/lips and the stock tow hook cant be reached without ripping bumper off, hence the extension. But basicly its just for looks, most people never use them, me included lol.

it's just that a tow hook...there to make it easier to get towed after off track excursions...versus a tow rope/chain/strap and tow truck driver having to find the oem hook and possibly damage bodywork/aero or bumpers in the process...

about the tow hooks......i think its the national auto sport association or honda challenge...they require you to have aftermarket tow hooks if you participate in their events.
